Garlic

Once I began pondering why we think of time using the units that we do, I was amazed at my unquestioning compliance to a system that permeates every aspect of my life. In an attempt to question and question and resist, I pondered ways to represent the concept of time in a way that doesn’t encompass the typical methods of telling time, such as utilizing digits or rotating a stick around the Z axis. The garlic, with intentional glimpses of traditional time-keeping systems (the use of rotation, mathematics, quartz-like material, and twelve pieces) explores an alternative way of thinking about time: one that requires one to associate a shape with a time of day.
