Fibonacci Garden

My fascination with fractals is centered around the ability of something so seemingly simple to create some of the most complex outputs in the world. This project focuses on the most fundamental of them all: the Fibonacci sequence. I became interested in how the sequence comes alive in the 3D space—in the crown of a Romanesco broccoli, in the way sunflower seeds spiral around the center... and began to ponder how this phenomenon can be reflected in an algorithm. The Fibonacci Garden is my take at representing something that is so programmatic and artificial in terms of the way it was generated and the physical materials that hold it together, but at the same time, is deeply aligned with the organic, as it is the sequence that defines the building blocks of the universe.
